Objective of the game
The fact that players strive for the lowest hand in stead of for the highest hand, distinguishes Deuce to Seven Triple Draw from most other card games.
The Ace can only be used as a high card in this game.
Since players get the opportunity to change their cards at several moments in the game, at times the Bank gets short of cards. If this happens, the ‘Discards’ will be dealt once more.
At various moments players can put their bets. Just like in some other Poker games, often a Bet Limit has been established for this game. In the first two rounds, a Low Limit has to be respected, in the last rounds a High Limit decides how much money can be put on the table. Players can bet every round. Also, bad cards can be returned to the Bank every round. The part ‘Triple Draw’ in the name of the game is deduced from the fact that at three moments in the game players can ask for a new card.
In contrast with most Poker games, the players of this game get five cards at once at the beginning of the game. Every round a player can decide how many of his cards he wants to deposit on the ‘Muck’. The Muck is the pile of ‘discarded cards’.
Players must try to achieve the lowest hand. Therefore, the best hand is this game is 2,3,4,5,7 (a ‘Wheel’). Not 2,3,4,5,6, because Straights and Flushes are a disadvantage in Deuce to Seven Triple Draw. A Straight is a combination of five cards en sequence. In a Flush not only the number of the cards are important, but also the suit (spades, hearts, diamonds, clubs). Considering that the Ace can only be used as a high card, the combination 2,3,4,5, A won’t bring you victory.
